Established in 2021 by UNDP, UNICEF and WHO, the Health4Life Fund is a global financing partnership devoted to non-communicable diseases (NCDs), mental health, and their development dimensions.
Risks for NCDs and mental ill-health begin at young ages and continue throughout life. These often-neglected challenges affect especially those who are poor, vulnerable, or marginalized. NCDs and mental ill-health furthermore undermine socio-economic prosperity and have proven critical to address as part of building forward better from COVID-19, including in strengthening health systems, pandemic preparedness and response, and climate action.
Leveraging the 40-member UN Inter-Agency Task Force on NCDs and its partners, the Health4Life Fund will promote global solidarity for impactful action on NCDs and mental health where it is needed most: low- and middle-income countries (LMICs) which face disproportionate burdens. Catalytic grants to LMICs will expand access to treatment and strengthen prevention across the life-course in line with national priorities and global goals.
The Trust Fund will mobilize and invest US$ 250 million over 5 years to leverage both international and domestic financing and accelerate action to achieve SDG 3.4.
