This report highlights political commitments made at the NCD high-level meetings of the General Assembly in 2011 and 2014, at the World Health Assembly through the 2010 WHO Global strategy to reduce the harmful use of alcohol (the global alcohol strategy) [3], and in the WHO global action plan for the prevention and control of noncommunicable diseases 2013–2020.
