Achieving Gender‑Transformative Universal Health Coverage Fit for an Ageing World

This policy brief highlights the urgent need for Universal Health Coverage (UHC) to be responsive to the needs and rights of women across the life-course including older women, who make up over 27% of the global female population yet are largely invisible in gender and health policy debates 

It outlines how gender-based inequalities accumulate over time, resulting in heightened health burdens and caregiving responsibilities for older women. To achieve equity and health for all, the brief calls for gender-transformative approaches embedded within UHC systems—addressing barriers to access, ensuring financial protection, and responding to intersecting vulnerabilities related to age, gender, and disability.
