CCI, BASMA and WHO EMRO
17 Dec 2025
This country story illustrates an integrated partnership model that brought together WHO technical leadership at both country and regional levels, the global advocacy and funding support of Childhood Cancer International (CCI), an NSA in official relations, and the on-the-ground implementation capacity of the national civil society organization BASMA. By aligning complementary roles, the partnership enabled the delivery of a sustainable “train-the-trainer” paediatric oncology nursing programme in a humanitarian setting, strengthening the skills of senior nurses while building national capacity for ongoing workforce development.
This collaborative approach demonstrates how coordinated action between WHO, international partners, and local civil society can improve the quality of care for children with cancer, even in fragile health systems, to advance the GICC objective of improving countries' capacity to deliver quality services for children affected by cancer.
