Air pollution and health – Training toolkit for health workers

The Air Pollution and Health Training (APHT) toolkit provides essential knowledge and practical guidance for health workers to understand and address the health impacts of air pollution. Developed by WHO, this toolkit includes four training modules, a training manual, and advocacy materials for clean air.

Air pollution is one of the leading environmental risk factors for noncommunicable diseases, responsible for an estimated seven million premature deaths annually due to conditions such as ischaemic heart disease, stroke, COPD, lung cancer and respiratory infections. The toolkit enables public health professionals to identify health risks, apply risk-reduction strategies and advocate for clean air policies. Using a train-the-trainer approach, it also supports the delivery of workshops and online courses to build capacity among health workers globally.
