Armenia STEPS Survey 2016: Fact Sheet on NCD Risk Factors

This fact sheet presents data from Armenia’s 2016 STEPS survey on noncommunicable disease (NCD) risk factors in adults aged 18–69, covering smoking, alcohol, diet, physical activity, overweight/obesity, blood pressure, cholesterol, and salt intake. 

Highlights

  • 27.9% currently smoke (mostly men) 
  • 34.4% drank alcohol in past 30 days; 5.9% binge drank 
  • 76% consumed <5 servings of fruits/vegetables daily 
  • 21.3% were physically inactive 
  • 47.7% overweight; 19.5% obese 
  • 37.8% had raised BP; 73.2% untreated 
  • 5.7% had high glucose; 23.5% had high cholesterol 
  • Average salt intake: 9.8g/day 
  • Only 7% had no NCD risk factors; 35.7% had 3+
