FIRS Campaign: Increasing Access to Inhaled Medicines

The Forum of International Respiratory Societies (FIRS) has launched the Increasing Access to Inhaled Medicines campaign, calling attention to the urgent need to make essential inhaled therapies available, affordable, and accessible to all who need them, especially in low- and middle-income countries.

Inhaled medicines are the cornerstone of treatment for chronic respiratory diseases such as asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). Yet, millions of people globally remain without reliable access, contributing to avoidable morbidity, premature death, and growing health inequities.

This campaign advocates for coordinated action among governments, international agencies, manufacturers, and civil society to remove barriers and deliver equitable access to quality-assured inhaled therapies.
