1 in 5 people are diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime. Nearly every family around the world is affected by cancer, either directly or as caregivers of someone who has had cancer. A cancer diagnosis can have a profound effect on the health and well-being of all those involved.
In 2022, WHO launched a global campaign to amplify the voices of those affected by cancer , to build on the existing WHO Framework for Meaningful Engagement of People Living with NCDs , Mental health, and Neurological Conditions (PLWNCDs). A global survey aiming to understand the psychosocial and financial impact of cancer on people diagnosed with cancer as children and as adults, their families/caregivers, and the family members of those who have died from cancer, in the medium to long-term, in a diversity of settings (HIC and LMIC) was distributed globally in 3 UN languages.
This study presents a subanalysis of the data obtained from the Survey Pilot.
