The Global Alliance against Chronic Respiratory Diseases (GARD) has released two new publications to strengthen global advocacy and action on chronic respiratory diseases (CRDs).
The Global scientific panel on chronic respiratory diseases: Background paper provides the scientific foundation for coordinated global action on CRDs. It outlines five priority areas: prevention and control strategies, multisectoral partnerships, strengthening primary care, equitable access to essential medicines, and investment in research and data.
Complementing this, the Key advocacy messages for chronic respiratory diseases translates these priorities into clear, actionable guidance for policymakers, international agencies and civil society. It calls for urgent efforts to integrate CRDs into broader noncommunicable disease and universal health coverage agendas, ensuring prevention, early diagnosis and equitable access to care.
