SIOP Nutrition Network's Educational Session with Dr James Evans presented an overview of his PhD research which was a mixed methods study investigating complications, outcomes and family experiences of gastrostomy versus nasogastric tube feeding in paediatric BMT.
Dr Evans is an award-winning paediatric dietitian with over 10-years’ experience of providing nutritional support to children with cancer and immunodeficiency diseases. His research has focussed on the provision of enteral nutrition support to children with these conditions who require a bone marrow transplant (BMT). He completed his PhD in 2023 which compared the use of gastrostomy versus nasogastric tube feeding in paediatric BMT. His research has been widely presented nationally at the British Dietetic Association Research Symposiums, and internationally at the European BMT conference EBMT and SIOP Annual Congresses.
