State of Global Air 2025 report

The State of Global Air 2025 report presents a comprehensive global assessment of air quality and its health impacts, using data covering 1990–2023. It finds that 36% of the world’s population is exposed to levels of PM₂.₅ above the least stringent WHO interim target of 35 μg/m³, nearly 2.6 billion people are exposed to household air pollution from solid fuel use, and 95% of air pollution–related deaths in adults over 60 are due to noncommunicable diseases such as COPD, dementia, diabetes, heart disease and lung disease.

Produced by the Health Effects Institute (HEI) in collaboration with the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation (IHME) and the NCD Alliance, the report provides detailed country-level data on air pollution and related health outcomes, along with an interactive platform for visualizing global and regional trends.
