TIF e-Academy is a platform that offers free of charge online, interactive courses which aim to increase patients, parents, and healthcare professionals' knowledge on thalassaemia, and sickle cell disease (SCD). All courses have been developed and reviewed by renowned international medical experts and patient leaders. Content is regularly updated.

 
The following courses are available for people living with thalassaemia and sickle cell disease (SCD):
  1. People living with thalassaemia may choose to learn more about the disorder, its genetic cause, the blood component affected, new advances in treatment, lifestyle, and many more by taking the Thal e-Course.  The course is available in English, French, Italian, German, Greek, Arabic and Turkish.
  2. People living with sickle cell disease can get in-depth practical knowledge on all aspects of SCD clinical management by taking the SCD e-Course for Patients, Families and Carers.
  3. People living with thalassaemia or SCD and who are EU citizens will benefit by studying the EU Health Policies Course, which provides an overview of all policies that can affect one's well-being.
Healthcare Professionals seeking to delve into the field of thalassaemia and sickle cell disease may enrol in the following courses:
  1. eThalED Course for Medical Specialists offers specialised knowledge on the prevention and clinical management of thalassaemia.  The clinical management course is based on the Guidelines for the Management of Transfusion Dependent Thalassaemia (4th edition, 2021).  A certification of achievement is available upon successful completion of all the online assessments. All modules are available in English, French and Arabic.
  2. The Sickle Cell Disease Course for Healthcare Professionals covers all aspects of SCD clinical management.  A certification of achievement, endorsed by the European Hematology Association (EHA), is available upon successful completion of all online assessments. 
  3. The HPLC Screening in the Service of Prevention and Diagnosis course is for laboratorians who are interested in receiving specialised knowledge on interpreting HPLC chromatograms to identify haemoglobinopathy cases.  A certification of achievement is available upon successful completion of the online assessment.
