This community has been created to support capturing and sharing experience, seeking consensus on best practice, and working together to improve the routine care of children and young adults with cancer in relation to diet, nutrition and physical activity.
Among its members, this community seeks to:
- Generate, curate and manage a body of knowledge for CoP members to draw on to better understand how best to provide nutritional care to CTYA with cancer i.e. provide access to a range of best practice documents and guidance for a wider audience.
- Create a sustainable collaborative network of clinicians, researchers, patients and parents/carers where they can be empowered to: Learn and share understanding about what is already known.
- Identify gaps in knowledge and set research priorities that together will enhance opportunities for improved care.
- Continuously improve to bring about more reliable nutrition care for children before, during and after cancer treatment to improve outcome
- Create a platform to collect, curate and synthesise international experience to inform wider activities in this area i.e. develop a shared repertoire of resources: experiences, stories, tools, ways of addressing problems etc
- Provide a patient/public-facing resource within the KAP that can be used to enable exchange of experience and raise/address concerns of CTYA with cancer and their families/carers.
